Horseback Riding and Riding for the disables...

I lived on Farm in New Zealand when I was 12
It is the biggest horse trekking farm in the North Island.

Everyday after school I spent my time with the horses.
I learned from the staff working in the stable about how to manage a horse
how to brush, how to care, and of course... how to ride.

So I stayed at The Farmhouse Rotorua for more than 6 years, studying at the local school and also spending my weekends and holidays with my favorite animal.

After graduating from high school, I had to return to Taiwan to continue my study at the university here.
However, I miss my horses very very much.
So I started looking for a place in Taiwan where I can go horse riding, but all the places I found arent so affordable for a student like me.

Then I remembered, about three years ago I googled and found a riding centre that was looking for volunteers, and it was The Therapeutic Riding Center of Taiwan.

So I rung them up and told them about my background and how much I miss horses. They told me if I become the volunteer, I will not really have chance to go riding, but my main job will be helping the children with disabilities to ride and exercise on horseback.

To me, it was not a problem.

Yes, I do miss horse riding, but I miss horses more.
And I think it is very meaningful and worthwhile to help people with disabilities to ride a horse.
It is like giving them a new hope. I would love to help them by giving them what I already know about horses  and helping them to build their confidence and dreams on horseback.

So, I went, to the place fulfilled with love and hope and my favorite animal.
Over there, horses are heroes, and they seemed to know what they are doing.
Through the use of therapeutic riding, the activities the children perform with horses can help disabled people to improve their bodies, minds, and spirits, and also it fulfill their potentials and could enrich their lives.

Horses are smart like that, they will give you their world if you give them yours.

So, here I am, I am going to write down my feelings, my experiences, my views and ideas and little stories in this blog about being a volunteer at the Therapeutic Riding Center of Taiwan.
In this blog, I will also cover anything that is interesting with horses.

Hope you will enjoy what I share with you in this blog~

PEACE.
